Karakoshka

System

Aluminum systems

The Batumi coast standard — anodized profile, A4 stainless hardware, thermal-break options.

When aluminum

Salt air or variable climate. Long service life (30+ years). Slim profile, maximum view. The baseline for our Premium and Signature tiers.

Best for

Best for

  • Coastal apartments

Direct salt-air exposure. Standard steel hardware lasts 3-5 years here; anodized aluminum lasts 30+.

  • Long-term owners

If you'll stay 10+ years, install once and forget. Aluminum doesn't degrade — it just keeps working.

  • Slim sightlines

Aluminum allows 60-75mm profile depth. PVC requires 90-110mm — your view loses 30% to frame.

  • Premium / Signature tier

Standard tier may use PVC; Premium ($220+) and Signature ($400+) are aluminum from the start.

Tradeoffs

Strengths & honest limits

+ Pros

  • Inert to salt air (when anodized)
  • Slim profile, maximum glass area

  • Color stability over time — no fading
  • Fully recyclable at end of life

— Cons

  • Higher cost than PVC equivalents
  • Cold version conducts heat — needs thermal break for year-round use
  • Heavier panels limit maximum dimensions

FAQ

Frequently asked

What's the difference vs. PVC?
Aluminum doesn't degrade under UV, is inert to salt air (when anodized), and supports slim profiles for maximum glass area. PVC lasts 10-15 years; anodized aluminum 30+.
Cold or warm aluminum?
Cold ($135-180/m²) is single-glazed — protection only. Warm ($220-320/m²) is double-glazed with thermal break — a year-round room.
Can I get color?
Yes — anodizing offers natural, bronze, brass, black. Powder coating allows RAL color codes — but for Karakoshka anodizing wins on longevity.
How long does install take?
Standard single-balcony: 2-3 days. Larger (4+ panels): 4-6 days. Lead time starts when glass and hardware ship from manufacturer (~2-3 weeks).
Acoustic performance?
Warm version with double glazing: ~32-35 dB attenuation. Acoustic laminated glass (Signature option): 38-42 dB. Sufficient for Batumi boulevard street noise.
I have a heritage facade — what then?
Common scenario — for Old Town facades we preserve the wooden decorative frame and install aluminum behind it. Heritage outside, modern function inside.
